hello fellow runners. I have a 1990 4runner and the rear defrost is not working. The light comes on but nothing. I tried holding down the button for 5 seconds after putting up the window. I can use the back switch to let the window up put it won't let it down. Could this have something to do with it.

If the light in the switch comes on, that means the window is closed all the way. It won't light otherwise.
The switch, which activates the defrost relay, uses the GAUGE fuse, but the defrost relay uses the DEFOG fuse, have you checked that?
Also, inspect the wiring embedded in the window and the connections to the window, the problem could easily be there.
Your problem the switch only working in one direction is unrelated.
