rear driveshaft DBL U-Joint Swivel Bearing?

WTF???

Do I have to replace my rear driveshaft if the bearing in the swivel part of my driveshaft for a 1998 T4r is missing some of the needle bearings?

What is the most economical way to fix this?

I was changing the U-Joints and the middle bearing in the swivel part of the driveshaft out of the transfer case side, it came apart & I lost a couple of the needle bearings. Was hoping that I could just replace the bearing. Not able to find one & looks like only option is to buy a new shaft. Any and all help greatly appreciated.

That is called the double cardan joint. You can replace bearings, but it isn't as straight forward as it should be, you will have to modify the bearings a bit an you have to buy very specific bearings. Search here for double cardan and you will find some threads on it. 1 thread I have linked to a couple time has the PN of a bearing that fits with some minor modification, but I don't have the link handy.

If you don't want to get pretty deep into this, then you should probably just pick up a used one from a junk yard.
