Rear facing dash camera ideas?

Really? Did not know that you could connect multiple cams and control them from one cam. What is the manufacturer and model of the dash cam that can do that?
Thanks am also interested in a dash cam, may need one on each side, almost got sideswiped yesterday from some dingbat merging on to the highway and coming over into the left lane I was in on a 4 lane road. That guy deserved a good smakin.
So you have a lot of experience with these. What is your recommendation for which model dash cams to go with? There are so many choices and options it's hard to make a decision, especially since I have never owned one.

too many options nowadays.. but i have blackvues in 4 of the cars, and a garmin in another. Had dashcams.. before they were even popular hah.
Just be mindful of the cameras power requirements. There are some cameras that work with 12v direct. While others require USB or 5v. Makes a difference if you plan to mirror tap it into the back of your rearview mirror.
Also be mindful of what kind of connectors run between the front and rear cameras. USB is the main one, but i chose ones that use coaxial, since the connector is a big more compact.
Easies is to get a piece of plexi glass and use the headliner snaps to fasten the plastic to the headliner. This will give you a perfect surface to mount your dashcam.

Where did you get the plexiglass? and is it just a matter of popping out the clips(?) and putting them back in with the glass in place? No extra parts/adhesives?
I had some I had laying around but you can also pick some up at the local hardware store as well.
And yes, just pop the clips out and put them back in with the glass in place. Then simply attach the dash cam onto the glass.

when you pulled the plug out of the headliner, is the hole already threaded for a nut? if so, you happen to know what size?
I installed a 2CH Blackvue system. The rear cam is mounted on the back of a thin metal fire extinguisher sign I found at Home Depot. Pop out the three upholstery clips and you have a perfect mounting point;

I did use a plexiglass to mount the rear facing dash cam. But instead of using plexi a went with lexan, which is shatter free and you can easily mold it with a heat gun or little torch.
I changed location from center to where the rear wiper is, in other words from center retainer clip location all the way to the right.

I'm not a huge fan of a camera mounted on the headliner -- I'm willing to do it, but would like to think of some alternatives first.
Anyone familiar with the waterproof cameras that can be mounted outside the vehicle? I'm wondering if there isn't something discreet that could be mounted under the rear spoiler, around the license plate, or even below the bumper (e.g. next to the hitch). Seems like this would be harder to do, though. For me at least, it wouldn't have to be part of a two channel system - already have a front-facing dash cam. Thinking a potential solution, if they exist, would be a higher-quality license plate frame camera with some sort of DVR. I'm not quite so concerned if the reverse camera gets dirty because it's still better than nothing.
