Hey everyone,

Just got my '21 TRD ORP. Just wondering what dash camera everyone is running on the newer years with the sensors behind the mirror? Also what everyone is doing for the rear cam?

Ive been eying one of the newer Black Vue cameras and the Viofo 4k Front and rear cam. Not a fan of the ones that hang down with a suction cup. I like the wedge style since theyre up and out of the way. Also where are people pulling power from on the new models? i know the older ones were getting power from the mirror.

Blackvue with a Blendmount will pitch it to the left of everything.

I run a Viofo A119V3 up front to the driver side behind the mirror. I did see on this forum someone was able to tap into the mirror power, but I personally just ran a power cable down along the windshield/headliner to the a-pillar and into the dash where I used an add-a-fuse to power it of an always on 12V (always on b/c I use parking mode with voltage cut off detection).

I was able to easily tuck the power wire into the headliner above the windshield, and then squeeze it into the the a-pillar as well. You can't see it at all.

I’ve ran BlackVue for a while and really liked them as long as you never need customer service. I bought a Rexing and it’s mediocre. Having the hard wire option for both, I’d advise to do it and get the rear cam as it’ll record your truck while it’s parked. People are sketch about hit and runs

Just installed a Vantop H612T to repalce an old Rexing V1. I run my hitch mounted tire carrier only half the year so the stock camera relocate kit was not really an option.

So far love the screen clarity, brightness and design of the kit. 4K video forward and 1080 in the rear. Has options for impact and parking collision detection, camera angle adjustment, easy install and great user interface.

Only complaint so far is due to the forward facing camera position, the stock mirror sticks out just past the right end of new mirrors edge. Ill get some pics of it installed and functioning in the near future.

Yep, got exactly that one. So far it hasn't left me with a dead battery yet!

I recent installed a blackvue dr900s with the power magic pro hard wire kit. I like it so far. I wanted to mount it right behind the rear view mirror but there is a sensor right behind the left side. I ended up centering it right below the dot matrix. I havent installed the rear camera as I do not know where to mount it.

I run the same camera with the voltage sensing hardwire kit. Hasn’t left me stranded yet, and there have been one or two occasions when I know it’s turned the camera off so it appears to be working as designed.

Any idea how long your parking mode will run before the voltage cut-off kicks in? I know this can also depend on weather, battery type/age, and other "always-on" accessories.

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if it is worth it to power 2-3 channels of dash cam (front,interior,rear) while parked. I don't park in a particularly high risk area, but the world is getting crazier. Just got some molle panels installed that I want to load up, not sure how much the dash cams would help me in the event of a break-in though.

For the rear ive seen several people make a small mount that goes in one of the holes for the clips holding the headliner up.

I haven't measured it, but I know I can get 3-4 days no problem. A couple of weeks ago though I got into the truck and when I started it, the dash cam started up too so I'm guessing the low voltage cutoff kicked in. I have it set to 12v I believe, and it runs off my accessory fuse box with the rest of my aftermarket electrical.

As you noted, lots of different factors come into play in terms of determining the ultimate run time when in parking mode, including how often the camera detects motion and actually writes to the sd card, so it's pretty hard to give any sort of projected time.

I run an old BlackVue from 2014 and its been great in my 2019 4R. So i definitely recommend them.

Ideally i hardwire my cameras right from the fuse box to a switch so i can select constant or ignition depending on needs. I have mine mounted high to the left of the RVM.

Have not done a rear cam yet. When i upgrade ill do a duel Blackview for front and rear.

Has anyone installed Street Guardian SG9663DCPRO+ dual cam on 2021 4 Runner ? I am looking to have it hardwired. Where do you install rear camera?
What places do you recommend to have it installed- I definitely will not be attempting this.

I've got SG but on 2018 4Runner.
Here is how I mounted the rear camera:

This was my solution

I pulled the little round plastic clip, Installed a plastic screw grip.
Drilled a hole in the mount and screwed to the the top. Back camera attached. Wiring was on thhe top across the roofto c-pillar to the floor channel to front to top across A-pillar to front camera.
