Rear Hatch Light Switch??? On/Off/Door

Ok, it used to work when I opened my hatch, but now the light only comes on if I put the light switch in the on position? What am I missing here? On the doors there is the switch that gets pushed in when you open the door and turns the light off, but maybe im blind, but what triggers the hatch light to come on when you open it? Any help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

The trigger its on the latch itself.
Mine has broken the wire inside the latch. To pull it off it isn't that difficult, you just have to pull the hatch panel and pull off the latch.
The real difficult is to disassembly the latch to fix the broken wire. I had to use a angle grinder to open it LOL
To see if is the switch or the latch, just open your trunk(with all other doors closed), if the light that indicate opened doors doesn't illuminate, then its your latch.
Before you pull everything apart, you could try spraying some WD40 or contact cleaner on the latch and see if this helps. If doesn't, i think that's the same issue of mine, a broken wire inside the latch.

Hey, thanks for the response! I turned it on the door selection and opened and shut that sucker several times, a little harder than normal, and it started working again. I guess it was just stuck. Thanks again though man!

The wire loom that you see connecting the rear hatch to the vehicle. The wires inside this loom can break. The plastic holder holds the loom and puts stress on the wires. I had a few wires break in mine.

REMOVE THE STUPID PLASTIC HOLDER AND THROW IT AWAY!.

I removed mine and have had zero issues.

I appreciate it Gerdo! I thought that was probably where my issue was, but didnt know for sure. Ill dig into it a little more tomorrow and see what I can find!
