I have read the discussions on repair of the rear lock hatch, I fixed mine the other day and it wasnt bad at all:reddance:. The weak link are the plastic posts on the license assembly, the ears of the lock uses them. While using my lock, it just pushed all the way through and linkage held it in place. I stop using the window and ordered 5 some available clips from toyota. I pretty much destroyed the ones removing the metal backing plate. By totally removing the tag assembly, it allows you to put reconstruct the posts, clamp them with expoxy and eventually snug the lock back in place.
A new assembly was too expensive and it came back together really easy.
A couple notes: take a pic of the position of the lock if needed and anything
else that you may need reminding.
The clips at the top of the tag assembly were stubborn.
I wouldnt be surprised if toyota would have charged 400 bucks.
