Anyone ever had any problems with the lift arms becoming weak and failing to bring the door all the way up?
It fell on my head today!

Replace them, they're getting old. Mine sag a bit on my 02 but my hatch is used very frequently.

I just purchased some of the Monroes and should have these by next week. I'll post-up a review when I get them on.

mine were replaced by the dealer just before I bought it in Jan 09. I'm assuming it was because they were shot. In the beginning they were pretty stiff and you really had to slam the the door to make sure it fully closed. It looked and felt closed, but the gap by the tail lights was a bit wider than it should be. Had a minor flooding problem once when it wasn't fully shut! It seems to have 'broken in' and shuts easily now.

Yeah especially with the ladder mine has become overstressed. I actually forgot about it doing that yesterday I was changing the alternator and ran to the tailgate to get my tools because the back half was out of the garage, flung open the door grab the tool kit and WHAM! right on my noggin

Oof! Yeah my injury was a similar accident: Rushing too fast and not thinking about the hatch. Thwack!
