rear lift gate handle

so my new limited is missing the handle to open the rear gate. not a huge problem... til i burnt out a brake light. ive been searching for a couple days now and still cant find exactly what im looking for.

has anyone fixed this? or at least torn into the lift gate and would be able to assist me in figuring out how to replace the handle.

and also. any ideas as to how to open it? i came across a thread and thought i bookmarked but i must not have...

If you take the pull handle off (remove the small cover and take out the bolt), then you should be able to pull off the main piece of plastic that is below the rear window. Just be easy, and I think it moves up once most of the clips have popped so that you can release it from the lip for the window seal.

Then you can take that metal panel off by removing the bolts, and the mechanisms should all be visible. You'll be able to release the door and fix things, too.

Awesome. I've seen a couple pictures of the stuff that was in there. But I couldnt find how to get to the handle mechanism. I figured it would be the same as the window motor and stuff that I have found bit wanted to be sure. Thanks.
