Rear OEM Landcruiser Shocks???

I've been noticing a slight rattle when i've got the window down and the road gets kinda bumpy. It finally bothered me enough to get under there and see what was loose.

Come to find out its the shocks. I'm running the rear OEM Toyota Landcruiser shocks. When I checked the top shock mount, the bolt was loose enough to turn it with my hand. I got the socket out and tried to tighten it back up but the top of the shock, the shield part, just spins with it. Got it somewhat tightened down. Seemed to go away for a few days and now its back again.

Anyone else have this happen? Any thoughts or fixes?

I don't really wanna be driving around with these things loose. Maybe that has been my vibration issue all along?

take the nut off on the top, clean the threads and put some blue lock-tight on there and tighten it back up... let it set over night before driving it again you shouldnt have any more issues of the shock coming lose, also when you tighten the nut back down, use a large set of channel locks(adjustable pliers) and a rag over the teeth so you dont scar/chew up the paint on the shock tube and keep it from spinning as you tighten the nut down, maybe use a lock washer too.

X2- add a lock washer and you should be good, mine haven't come lose again. One of mine "squeaks" though which i don't know why.

x3 - try just putting another washer on top, that fixed my problem.

Well they've got the big rubber bushings on each side of the mount and those seemed pretty compressed, almost squished but its still loose. I took some pics but not sure what all you can tell from them

those things are way too lose, that rubber grommet at the top isnt hardly squashed down at all! you should have like at least a half inch of threads on that stud showing

and you notice how on the top of that stud its been "squared" or rectangled" off...? yeah use and adjustable/crescent or fitted open ended wrench on that a ratcheting wrench(closed end) on the nut, that will keep your shock from twisting as you tighten it down.
