Rear quarter panel glass with antenna

I have an 02 with a power antenna, but i am replacing the passenger side rear panel glass with an antenna in it. My question is what exactly is the window antenna for? I can not find any info. On it at all. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Google "4Runner Diversity Antenna" and you may find your answer. I got some kind of Y cable from Amazon to use when I installed a Kenwood stereo. That way both antennas are in use.

The radio uses both antennas and uses the strongest signal at any point in time.
It helps eliminate multi-path and drop out, improving reception.
