Rear Roof Rack Light Wiring

For those of you that have chase lights I was wondering how you routed the wiring. if through the rear hatch area or if it was down the "A" pillar?

From the engine compartment, then wedged between the windshield and A pillar, then under the plastic cover in the rain gutter, then along the rack rail to the light.

I went in at the rear hatch, and was able to wedge the positive and degative wires between the weather stripping. I had just done that temporarily, but it actually works pretty well. I will try to get some photos.

i just purchased two amber floods from BD for the rear of the rack and i wanted to wire them thru the back hatch but I feel that will just create more work.
I will probably just silicone the wiring down the passenger side of the 'gutter' and then down the passenger side of the windshield.
my driver side is allready silicone'd up with my front light bar
its not too bad if you just rip out the whole side weatherstripping from the windshield. it gives you a large channel to put your wires into

I went through the rear hatch (see the left side of the photo with the wire protector). Then inside & under the plastic cover between the back & side windows to the floor. Then along the floor (under the carpet) to the fuse box. Placed a switch in one of the open switch spaces.

I used a grommet that they use on ships and yahts to run cables thru a deck and be waterproof. Aftermarket stereo system so didn't need the factory XM radio antenna anyway.
Ran a large multiple wire cable thru it and now I have several pairs of wires for different lights front and back of the rack.

I happen to have some large cables laying around from a forklift that I used so I have extra wires up there already to add more lights later.

Did that bolt right on to the screw holes and cover the XM antenna area completely?

It covers the area completely but you have to drill 4 tiny holes for the 4 screws on the grommet around the existing hole

Front light bar: goes down driver side windshield (6 16g wires)
rear light bars: goes tucked under wire mesh of the roof rack floor, but tucked in against the lower passenger side bar. (2 14g wires)

It looks like your wiring connector is right next to your hatch hinge? Did you use a supplied wiring harness or just wire yourself?

Did you bring the wiring into the cab? Then did you route along the floor to get to the dash switch then to the engine bay?

I'd like to get a single 6 inch amber chase light and trying to figure out best way to wire it. Extreme LED has a nice 6 inch option and they have a nice wiring harness. I've already brought in my solar panel wire through the rear hatch grommet. Just trying to figure out my options here....

Yeah, the connectors are right next to the hatch hinges. There’s plenty of room between the hatch and the body, so there’s no worry of the connectors being damaged when opening and closing the hatch. I believe I also zip tied the connectors to the hinge brackets so they don’t shift around. No issues since initial installation. I modified the supplied wiring harness and i bought more wire because it wasn’t long enough. I routed the wires down the weatherstrip and to the floor all the way up front through the firewall and into the sPOD. The sPOD made it easy because a wire went into the positive and a wire went into the ground. When I wired the wires through the cabin, the wires went underneath the sliding cargo tray panels and the plastic door sills. I thought that was the easiest method of routing the wires.

i ran mine into the hatch and then out the tail light at the bottom and them up, no water leaks as it under the tail light

another option is to pull the seal strip out and cut a notch in the metal and run it in
