Wiggling the seat a little, then pressing it rearward and depressing the button hard might get it to pop free. You're basically trying to jiggle and remove tension from the actual latch in hopes of letting it release.
If that fails, gently pull the seat backing off and you can probably start poking at it with a screwdriver and some sort of lube to get it free.

So I pushed and pulled the seat back in every direction while pushing the button and it did release and fold down. However, the button still doesn't move or release the latch (like the other side does). I can move the latch itself with a screwdriver but the button is frozen. Looks like a seat back disassembly is in order but that does not look simple.

I had to go look at my seat for this: You can get the seat base up and out of the way to expose the bottom of the seat back, right?
If so, on the side (for me I was looking at the driver side back seat) there's a pivot which held together by a bolt: I would try removing that bolt to see if losening the seat back from the bottom up would work.

I currently have this issue and hopefully it can help.
My one rear seat.wont lock into place, so I took the lock/release button off. Someone else might have tried before, and when they put the button back on, the pin didn't screw into the proper threaded hole on the button, and it screwed into one of the segmented crevices instead.
The seat does latch back into place without the button on.
Now the current problem for me is to have the pin centered while I drop in the button to screw it in place. The pin flops around before I can get the button on top.
I'm going to use some strong or floss to hopefully keep the pin centered and upright enough for the button to screw on, then the thread should be small enough to pull out.
