Rear Shock Question

Sorry if my searching didn't turn up a conclusive answer on this and I know shock stuff has been beaten to death, but...

Anyone have any feedback on running the Tundra Bilstein 5125's with OME 906's? I saw a post on someone using them (24-100144), but it's the only thread I could find and it was left with "yeah, they're good." Based on the stats of these shocks, I think they dimensionally would be fine (assuming they're not too long?):

*Collapsed Length (IN): 13.84
*Extended Length (IN): 22.40

Don't know their damping rate though and I do not want to use an eye-to-stud adapter and have heard the OME 60028 aren't as nice as Bilstein's. I know Sonoran Steel is using something similar to this in their kit (w/890's), but I have no specifics on the actual shocks they use (maybe custom setup for SS?).

Thanks Ryan. I wonder if anyone has made these measurements w/906's because when I remove my rear shocks, I'm guessing it's going to be a destructive thing and will need the replacements right away...

Also, I spoke with Steve (Sonoran) and learned that the bushings on the current version of the Tundra 5125's cannot be easily removed like they were before (changed in 2009).

With a 3" lift, they look great ext/comp length-wise. No info on the lower bushy, though. Interested what peeps are doing, as it sounds like a few are running these already.

What I was told (By Steve @ Sonoran) is that on the newer version of the 5125 shocks, the lower bushing design has been changed so it is no longer easily removable...

I ended up going with OME's in the rear and am very happy with my choice. The road characteristics (highway, gravel) are much improved over the soft stock ones I had. The only complaint is that low-speed potholes (i.e., city driving) are a bit more rough, but not bad. Rides REALLY good with some weight in the back too.

Thanks for the OME review! I've been looking into suspension for a while now. Is there a reason you were considering the 5125 over the 5100 for a rear shock? Seems like they're more of a direct bolt in for our 4Runners.

Old thread I know. Do you mean the tundra 5100's? I was under the impression that there wasn't 3rd gen rear specific 5100's.

Any more feedback on 5100's or 5125's with 906 coils? I'm hoping to soften the 906/60028 ride by just changing shocks. Rides like its on wooden wheels right now.

I was just trying to avoid the eye-to-stud adapter because I don't think that's an ideal setup. Yeah, I think it was the Tundra's.

The end of the story on that one is that unless you have a press, swapping the lower bushing out is going to be a nightmare (according to SS).

I was thinking that with the 5125 it might be too long compressed for 906's with the addd length of the eye adapter. I also don't want the springs to fall out on full droop.

Yeah, I think your going to find the best balance of things with stock or stock equivalent.

Ya I think the inch of downtravel I'll lose with a stock replacement is fine. Too many trade offs with other options. Is there a regular bilstein? Or just the HD? I found them for 63$ each on eshocks.com
