Rear spacers or new springs to fit 285's?

I know, there are thousands of posts on this, but I've read for hours and still don't know which way to go. :help: I have a 2014 Trail with KDSS. I purchased Bilstein 5100's, and also just received my Falcon Wildpeak 285's. Some people seem happy with rear spacers, and some seem to think they should never be used. I can't decide which way to go! I occasionally do some mild off-roading, nothing serious. So spacers or new springs? And why do some people use wheel spacers? Is that something I should also invest in?

The cost is pretty negligible. They have to compress the old springs anyway to install spacers, I would just get new springs. You can get a decent pair for ~$200.

I think a full spring will allow more/better flex. A new spring will also allow you to carry weight with less sag depending on the spring rate increase.

Spacers should get you the look though.

Get new springs. Performance will be better and most aftermarket springs will be a little bit stiffer which will help improve the ride and help you carry more weight with less sag.

My recommendation, for the price, is the wheelers t13 or t12 springs for the back. Get the t13's if you want a 1.5 inch lift or the t12's for a 2.5 inch lift. They're on sale right now for 160 for a set.

I'd also go ahead and pair your 5100's with their t1 spring for the front.

As far as the rears are concerned, labor is pretty much the exact same for replacing the springs or adding a spacer so you might as well just go with springs.

The front's involve a bit more labor but you were gonna do that anyway to swap your original coils. So again, might as well replace them with new springs to better match your new shocks as well as your rear.

My whole philosophy with this kind of stuff is buy once cry once. Do it right the first time and you won't regret it.
