Rear spoiler question

For those people out there with the rear hatches with no spoiler.....are there spots to add the spoiler? (factory mounting holes, etc....)

Or is it a 50/50 shot thing, and one would have to look for a spoiler mounted rear hatch if they wanted one with the spoiler?

I took off mine as well as the roof rack, I like the look without em and they seem to be rust magnets at the beach.........what does that spoiler gizmo supposed to do anyway?

THANKS!! Called my local toyota parts guy who I've known for quite awhile. Apparently theres NONE in any warehouse in the US. He found 3 in Toyota PR (puerto rico). He's currently finding out if he can get one shipped back here for me!

There's always the junkyard too. You can get compatible rivnuts on McMaster-Carr and install it pretty easily.

Yea thats what I was wondering about, since I got the call back that says they cant ship them from PR. Junkyard or Ebay lol.

The Rivnuts worry me a bit. Is there a certain depth I need to look for, or are the M5 Rivnuts a specific size and depth? (I know nothing about rivets)

You won't need anything special for the rivnuts (though, consider using stainless steel). The one for the thinnest surface will work. You will need to know the thread size and pitch of the mounting bolts (sorry, I don't have that).

toyota installation instruction says m5x16 t25 torx bolt

I have an extra spoiler and mounting brackets if you need them! Only thing I don't have is the hardware.

I'll keep it in mind thanks!! Went to pick up a 97 tonight but it had a major electrical issue so the original owner is on his way with my check and I'll return his title and drive the 2.5 hrs back home :lookout:
