Rear spoiler (ugly)

How many of you have taken off the ugly rear spoiler? Im assuming it would leave holes that need to be patched, but i think it'll be worth it.

What do you guys think.... spoiler, or no spoiler? I wish it was at least painted the same black as my 4r

I have found one handy thing about the spoiler. If you have your driver's window open when you're going down the road at med-high speed the wind sort of blasts you in the face. But, if you crack the rear window open, the spoiler will direct the airflow into the truck and equalize the pressure... No more wind in your face.

Ha i know exactly what you are talking about. I may keep it then. I use my back window so much in the summer that the friggin window motor went bad.... talk about i a PITA!!!! I hope i never have to do that again.

Gonna have to disagree on this one. I think it looks plain without it. I like it but to each his own. If the color bothers you so much go get it painted the same color. It's not like it would cost alot, it's small

Lots of discussions about this. I took mine off for about a year. I then painted it to match the trim and put it back on. I like it better than the black, but I would really like a Jaos-style spoiler.

anybody who wants to sell theirs to me. let me know I am looking for one.

Same happens without it :), but if you dont have a spoiler and go down a dirt road with it rolled down you will be choking because of the amount of dust that goes into the cab. Mine never came with the spoiler thing.

It also helps keep dirt off the rear window while just driving. My rear window gets caked with fine dust. THat thing helps to catch some of the air and force it down agains the rear window

I agree with a few, It does look plan without it.
I took mine off and had my local body guy spray it same color of vehicle. Looks ten times better. It doesn't stand out like the black does on a silver Runner. I bought him a 12pack and gave him $25.00.

I'd do like the others said...paint it and keep it! I don't have one, and wish I did! Would be nice to keep the dust off my rear window when driving down the road......

Wow...wouldn't have guessed that everyone likes the spoilers. I, personally, am not a fan. I think it makes the truck look more dated because only really old suvs have them.

And Brian, I don't have a spoiler on my truck and the air does the same thing you described, it comes in from the back window and out the front windows and sunroof without the help of the spoiler.

I personally think the 4R looks a lot cleaner and better w/o the spoiler. It doesn't do much in the way of keeping dust off the rear window, as stated and
it causes snow to build up on the back roof instead of sliding off. I just never liked it's looks from day one, but each to their own. I took mine off and painted the screws with the body touch-up paint and then put a dab of silicone on the threads and screwed them back in. You don't even notice the screws when they are painted the same color as the body. There's enough going on up there with the luggage rack and sunroof anyway.

I'd say I like the look with the black spoiler, mine doesn't have it however.

Chastise me if I'm wrong, but I think most people want something they don't have, just to personalize it. A good example is the green interior lighting. I bet if it came white or blue or techno rainbow, people would want to change it to something else.

I had a Ford Escape with no spoiler as a rental last month, and I found an unbelievable amount of rain and dirt got on my window. Never drove a Runner without the spoiler yet.
