i need a little unneeded help. the stock rear coil springs have gone bad and sag 4" with nothing on it. wanted to just put new springs on it and call it good but father wont let it bc he thinks thats not why it bottoms out when pulling a small trailer. he is wanting to put air shocks on it even though we just put skyjacker nitro 8000 shocks on 3 months ago. im now thinking air bags for the back but know nothing about them or how well they hold up to wheelin. any recommendations?? :happens:

i dont know much about air bags, but i'm pretty sure they will cost a little more than $150 bucks. plus, installing rear springs takes maybe an hour to do yourself.
 
he is afraid they will do it again and wont fix it at all but it has too, there are only 2 things there and we replaced one so...
 
yeah i get what your sayin, and i see your pic in your album with your trailer full of dirt bikes. and damn does your 4runner sag lol do some research. I dont know what springs you got on right now, but the OME 891's are great coils and work great for towing. I had a set on for 3 years and they treated me very well and did not sag one bit. but also, if your dad is set on air bags, let him... i've read some threads about bags and people seem to love them and would do it again in a heartbeat.

and fyi thats with a 4" block on them, but i added the new tires that are 4" taller and pulled a small trailer and the tire hits the flares even if the truck leans on an unleveled road... its bad...
 
they are just block lifts until i get enough to do a legit bigger lift
2.5" front and 4" rear, front touches a lil when i turn with the 33" tires but the back is the real problem

yeah you should ditch those blocks and put some actual suspension on, should solve your problem lol i think anything would be better than those blocks right now.

air bags won;t do a thing to help you if your coils are shot, your just going to lift the sagging coils higher up and have the sag a few inches higher if that makes sense, best thing you can do is replace the rear coils and do the fronts when you get the cash, also if your dad wants airbags so bad, let him, just don't let him expect you to pay for it. i'm not sure who's truck it is, but honestly get some new springs in the rear, heck you can even pick up some
lc coils for like 80 bucks, may not be the best to tow with but have to be better then your tired stockers.
 
What about 8 wrap LC Coils, those come off the front of a V8 Land cruiser, they are meant to hold weight and fit the rear of a 4runner.
 
I think all the FJZ80 Lancruisers were either V6 or I6 diesel. LC coils are not good for carrying load. You can get tall ones and add weight, but all that does is mak them shorter, they don't ride better. The more weight you put on 891s, they better they ride but they're a bit stiff unloaded.
