Rear Tire Carrier without Bumper Upgrade/Mod

Ran across this nifty little "gadget" that uses the hitch mount to move spare tire out from under 4Runner and onto rear.
A little pricey, but its an option if you did not want to upgrade rear bumper. Looks like the mount comes with a swing away to allow for tail door access.
I think this is going on my list of near future upgrades, especially since I just finished Airlift upgrade...

I like the look of it but for the price I'd prefer the CBI Offroad premium universal tire carrier.

Eventually I'm doing a full bumper upgrade but I considered this as a temporary fix as I'd like a matching 295 spare. Either that or the pizza cutter option until I get my bumper.

I've been waiting for someone to pop on these. I called the guys at Tiregate a year ago wondering how they work. They're super nice and give a hefty military discount. I've seen two of these in texas. One is mounted on an ford expedition and I've spoken to the guy once and he loves it. The build is very impressive! He opened it and closed it and it seemed to operate very well.

Looked at them myself. My concern was when I saw they specified a Class III hitch and a 500lb tongue weight capacity. Is the factory hitch rated for that?

Checked he toyota press info and yes it would be rated for the use of this.

For light offroad use - yes, but for some serious action I'd want my spare to be hard mounted via bolts:

Exactly. Most of the dead-ends I hit searching for valuable information are when I go to a messageboard and an old topic is locked. I've never understood why keeping a topic alive is anything but good.

That's a load of horsecrap....

25%(and I believe the number closer to 40) of the first five pages of topics in the 5th gen section could have EASILY been found with a simple search....people don't read, people don't care. And so someone is always willing to make an excuse for their laziness. when it's actually a very simple task.
