Hey guys, I got the cbi rear plate bumper without the rear tire carrier and was wondering if their were any other companies that just sold the tire carrier by itself besides savage offroad? They have one for 300bucks that i am thinking about buying and welding on to my existing bumper, wasnt sure if anyone has had any experience with fabing up a rear tire carrier to a steel bumper but i am asking for your help now

DON'T go with the savage.
I have a buddy down here who got one for his Runner.
A day later the damn handle snapped off it.
Not to mention, the entire damn thing shakes.
They seem like a POS to me, though a lot of people seem to like them.
If you have a CBI bumper, go with a CBI tire carrier. You WON'T be disappointed. If I had the money for one, I'd have already gotten it.

CBI bumpers are all the same, weather the tire carrier is on there or not. They use a jig to fabricate the bumpers, and to put the tire carrier on.
It wouldn't make sense for a company to make one plain bumper, and one bumper to add stuff to. That's counterproductive.
They have options on EVERY bumper for swing out, jerrycans holders, or anything else you can want from the company.

It's the same bumper, but they don't create it with the intention that people will add a swing out later on.
So there would be fab work, nothing crazy I imagine though

It is basically the same bumper, but it will be a pretty decent amount of work to retro-fit a tire carrier after the fact. You'll need to weld the spindle on and since the CBIs lock closed with a large threaded "bolt", you'll need to drill a hole for that and thread it.
I've heard in the past that CBI will take the old non-carrier bumper back and give you a credit towards a bumper with the swing out, but I'm not sure if they still do that. You'd probably be better off selling your existing bumper to a forum member and then just buying a new one if you want to get the most money back out of it though.
