Well, I've done both my 99 and 2000 and the bearing had no lip. I believe the 01-02 have the bearing with the protruding inner race. You need that C-clip to keep the bearing in place. Maybe the bearing isn't recessed into the hub far enough. The parts breakdown shows a clip being used in the same fashion as all other 3rd gens

The bearing is pressing in as far as it goes tho and the lip on the aftermarket bearing is only on the inner race and sticks out just far enough to cover that little slit the c clip goes into

That's the lip I'm talking about idk if u can see it

At this point, the only thing I can speculate on is that maybe being AM parts has something to do with it. Also that seal in the picture, is either different or it's 2 seals stacked on top of each other. There's only one seal per side. (I'm sure you already know that) This is one of those jobs I would only use OEM parts for. If you're doing this yourself, and pressing all the parts off then you'll only need one retainer (the one the seal rides on) Some guys cut the parts off (I highly advise against this) in which case you'll need 2 retainers and possibly the ABS rotor. Here's a breakdown of your axle.

I believe that protruding lip portion of the bearing faces out towards the wheel.
If anyone knows different please chime in.
