ok so i took the rig (2002) to a shop, and they tested to see if the rear window motor was getting power,... it wasnt so its not the motor (for now) he said that the little red box (that you see when you take the hatch plastic panel off) is getting "current" or power, but not putting it to the motor? what is that part called?

FYI - the blue print goes like this (so i think), the battery puts power to the red box (with like 20 some wires going in n out) then the red box puts "power" or has wires going to the motor. so ya? i need help looking for the right part, bc i want the window to work for the summer! please anybody???

Right by the window switches in the drivers door. It is a push button and will lock the control of the other windows.

A few things to check.
If the rear wiper is turned on, the window will not work.
At the top left (drivers side) of the hatch is the wire bundle. It is held in place with a plastic collar. This collar puts extra strain on those wires. This strain causes the wires to break. You may be getting power but when under load the compromised wire can't handle the load.

I had a few wires break. My window didn't work and my rear dome light would stay on and fade out.

well infact my wiper and defroster dont work anymore, prolly a fuze, idk, but ill check the wire bundle out! how much did it cost to get fixed for you? or did u not fix it yet?

but i forgot to say that when my brother had the runner he ran into our neighbores mailbox and hit right where the little red box is located (to the top left of the license place holder thingy)

this was the cause of my rear window to work intermittently, check that wire bundle I would almost guarantee that is the problem.

ok ill check it, but after my brother hit the mailbox it never worked sence then, but before it worked! but again ill go check it today after class!

Is that the "name" lable of the fuse, on the fuse box diagram pic thing?

it actually isn't a fuse. it's a relay. they're like 12 bucks at o'reilly. i had to get one because my defroster didn't work either. i had the same problem as you but the only thing the relay fixed was the non-working defroster. when i took the plastic panel off to look at the wiring i noticed that nothing was actually connected... no idea how that happened. but i plugged everything back in and voila. window, defroster, and wiper all working.

I'm sorta having the same problem. Window will go down about an inch then stop. Thought it was hitting wiper when going down but seems to be free and not hitting.

huh ok! well where is the relay located? and would the wiper be the same case? the relay?

the relay goes where DEFOG is labeled. not too sure what to tell you about the wiper. one thing i've learned with the runner is everything is a closed circuit. so check alllllllll your wiring.

similar problems with 2000 4runner

Hi - the problems started a few weeks ago with the rear wiper working only on 'full on' and not on intermittent. then it stopped working completely. then a few days later the key fob remote stopped working.
I tried to reset the key fob, but that did nothing.
I pulled and checked all the fuses under the dash, and thought that worked as everything was fixed for a day or so.
I read that some have replaced that fuse block, so THAT could point to a bad connection there since it worked briefly when I touched that??
I haven't tried the MBX-B relay yet.

But today my wife said when the key was removed, the truck acted like the ignition came on briefly. It chimed like the key was in the ignition. Then later when she opened the tailgate, it once again acted like the ignition came on briefly.

SO, I will look at the fuses and relays again. Perhaps it's a bad connection in one of the fuse blocks? I opened the tailgate and everything LOOKED ok in there, but now I suspect the wiring from the body to the gate, as that is probably a vulnerable spot??

any other ideas of what to look at. I really can't spend a lot on this, but can't let it leave us stranded someplace!

thanks
