Ok..I'll try to make this as short as possible, but I need help!
A softball blew out the back window of my 2004 4Runner. Little did I know that the fun had just begun. I had a $100 deductable and had a local glass business replace my window.
I arrived at the glass installer's garage and the window looked good, but the installer said the back gate would not open. He left the "skin" off the inside of the door and the only way the back gate could open is if the window was down and I reached in and opened it manually.
I used this site and read a thread from years ago that said to unhook the battery and then rehook and then try it. To my amazement, it WORKED - the back gate now opened. I had to recalibrate the power windows and moonroof (also found info on how - from this site).
My problem is...When I roll the back window up all the way, the motor (or whatever you call the mechanical thing that moves the window up and down) just keeps making a noise like it's trying to move the window up. Every few seconds it sounds like it's working/moving the window even though it's already up. The odd thing is, it doesn't do this if the window is down or even partially open (even 1/2 an inch). I fear that I'm going to wear out the rear window motor if I keep letting it cycle every few seconds.
For now I've been leaving the window cracked a tiny bit, but the problem is - I live in VT and it's going to get cold - I'll need defrost and my wiper soon and neither will work when my window is cracked.
