Rear Window Issue - 92' 4Runner

At this point I am stumped. Here is the troubleshooting I have done thus far:
1. I have confirmed the rear window motor works by putting power directly to the window motor from a power source.
2. The rear window and wiper motor relay has been replaced (the new one could be broken, but I doubt it)
3. I did continuity tests with a multi-meter on the window lock switch and the window switch. I found the window switch was not working when I tested with the multi-meter. Once I found that out, I took some wire, and was able to roll the window down by placing the wire on the connector positions identified for rolling up and down. Once I was able to roll the window up/down with just a wire, I ordered a new switch assembly. Installed the new assembly, and it WONT ROLL DOWN!

I am a little lost. I have taken the multi-meter to the new switch, but this was a brand new, OEM switch. Does anyone have any other thoughts/tips/tricks to check or replace next?

You were able to roll it up and down with just piece of wire but not with switch? That sounds weird. Could be faulty new switch but that is unlikely. There are two switches that prevent window operation, one while wiper is not in its parking position and second one when door is not closed. Did you check those too? How about using a key, that works?

It’s not the wiper sensor. I ruled that out. I doubt its the door sensor. If that was the case, I believe the “BACK DOOR” light would be illuminated. There could be something wrong with the key switch. I cant actually get the key in the rear door lock cylinder. It’s possible that is maybe causing an issue, but that still doesnt make sense.
I dont really see how the switch wont work, but a jumper will. If the sensors were tripped, then I wouldn’t expect the jumper cable to work in place of a switch.

Fixed

I figured it out. Went through the wiring diagram to find all the connections to the front switch. Based on the wiring diagram, the only thing that should have been causing the window to NOT roll down was the window lock switch. Pulled the console to check the wiring, and found that I hadn’t fully connected the lock switch harness when I took it apart to check all the switches. Got the window lock switch connected, and BOOM! Rear window is now operational from the switch!
Now onto the rear window door lock cylinder and switch.

Aaah, good job then! I kind of suspect it could be some absolutely lame wiring issues since whole 'wire work but button did not' thing was realy weird.

Good luck on rear lock cylinder. Can't help you with that, never did any work on it. I would just suggest take it out, disassemble it and clean it. My guess is that contacts are corroded or just dirty.
