Rear Window Operation

Have reviewed all the forum/internet links I could find about why my rear window button won't work. Went through the steps to test/check, etc. Checked master window button. Made sure rear wiper is stowed away. Rolled all windows down/up to see if that triggers anything.

What does happen....I can roll window down/up using the key in the back. If I roll window down, I can roll it up using button. But I cannot roll window up or down if completely closed using the button. It seems to only work one way...Roll up if down by using key.

Any thoughts? Need new button? I don't believe there's a dedicated fuse anywhere.

Just another idea

Check for the child lock-out button. I had a simlar issue on our Sequoia that stumped me for a week and it turned out to be the child button.

I believe this is what both respondents are calling the Child Lock - so he's already checked that.

I had a similar issue, but my switch would not work at all. The switch's plug came loose when I was working on the console and I didn't notice. It is possible the plug is slightly dislodged so only one direction is working.

Aside from that, maybe try to reset everything by yanking the battery "-" terminal for 10 minutes, and then re-calibrate the auto up/down function.

Is removing console pretty straight forward?

Tried each rear door child lock. Both are non lock location. I like battery disconnect idea. How to "re-calibrate"? Experimented again. I can hear clicking back there when window is up and I use switch in the close position. But when window closed or open part way and try to use button to open window, nothing happens and I don't hear any clicking

Is removing console pretty straight forward?

Wasn't anything too crazy - but I'm not sure if a loose connector could cause the exact (odd) behavior you are experiencing. I'd try the battery reset first.

Is the button nasty looking? When I got my 4th gen it had developed grime/gunk between the switch and bezel causing it to stick and not work reliably. Toothpick and some patience fixed that since it's a very tight clearance.
