Rear Window Problem

Hello,
This is my first post to the forum, but have been a reader for awhile and have been getting some great information here.
I bought my “ Certified” 08 4runner in October from an out of state stealership, about 3 hours away. I recently put my rear window down and when I raised it there was a large scratch on the entire vertical length of the window. Yesterday I took the runner to my local stealership to see what could be done about it. I didn’t get anywhere with them, so I went home and called Toyota, filed a complaint and received a case number. I explained to them that I had signed a paper when I bought the vehicle stating that scratches had been repaired on the rear tailgate and the repair work was acceptable. What I took from that, was the tailgate was repainted. Was the wiper assembly removed for the painting or was the repair more than just scratches??? After being on hold for a while, I was told that I was beyond the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and I would have to take it up with the selling dealer. I was told the service manger from the selling stealership will be calling me within 3 days to discuss my concerns. I have a feeling that he will tell me to come to them to have it looked at and then they will say it was not their fault. Anything else I can do, or do I just fix the problem myself?
