rear window question? dead nothing

my back window just stopped working. Where should I start for trouble shooting? all other windows work fine.

not sure if there is a separate fuse for this circuit, but might check it,,,,, also,,the console switch is notorious for getting dirty and not making contact. Does it work with the key-switch ? If not, check for loose or corroded connections and grounds in the tailgate. Mine had some loose weather stripping on the bottom of the gate and was letting spray get in from below during wet weather. I snugged that up , and the problem went away in a day or two,, after it had time to dry out.

as a matter of fact

it was working until I went to the automatic car wash
but I think all the windows are on one fuse? I could be wrong!

I am just glad it is stuck up and not down!

it is dead from the switch inside and the keylock outside.

so I will check the connections! Is that pretty straight foward on
taking apart the tailgate from inside?

yes,,, just carefully pop off the edges of the carpeted section in the center of the tailgate. Slide your fingers underneath the edge. You'll feel it 'give'. The rest just pop out the same way. There will likely be a piece of plastic sealing the openings in the tailgate underneath the carpeted piece you remove.

When I bought my 93 the rear glass skipped and stopped when trying to roll it up. I took apart the tailgate and window assembly to find that the window-glass-drive-motor gear was stripped. But! the drive gear is much wider than the gear it drives. So...if you still hear the motor whirring in the tailgate when you try to lower the glass you may be able to fix it this way: Take it all apart, be careful as the arms that push the glass up are spring loaded, and offset the drive gear with a few washers such that the unstripped part lines up with the other gear.
