Rear window switch illuminated?

I'm in the process of upgrading my interior lighting to LEDs and I noticed that the tailgate window switch near the e-brake handle is not lit when lights are on. I cannot remember if the switch is lit or not.

My 98 has the same switch as your 96 i believe and it lights up green.
