Rear window switch operates back wiper?

Has anyone seen this? If i try to use to center console button to operate the rear window, the rear wiper actually goes on. The key works in the rear hatch to move the window up or down (so the window works), and the rear wiper control on the wiper stalk works as normal...

Thoughts? How would that center console switch get crossed with the wiper control?

Probably in the harness that goes from body to liftgate. Look for broken insulation causing shorts in that bunch of wires where it flexes as gate opens.

This is what greeted me when I pulled back the cover on the harness:

I was clearly missing more functionality than just the window operation (I know rear hatch light and probably defroster as well...) and another wire was just about to break.

I spliced in about an inch of wire and covered each with shrink tubing. There isn't a ton of give in the harness, but I was able to strip enough to make the connection.

Anyway - thanks for the tip, I now have a working rear window switch (and light, an defroster...)

I wonder if I have something similar going on, my wiper won't work when it is really cold out and my defroster doesn't seem to work worth a darn ever. Thanks for posting pictures!
