Rear Window won't go down...

Just picked up a '98 SR5 with about 130K on it. It's all in great condition but the rear window won't go down more than about 3 inches. It looks like it somehow catches the wiper on the inside because that's where it stops and the wiper jerks a bit. This a common problem? And easy fix? I hope... Thanks!

it shouldnt catch on the wiper because when the rear wiper is off it shouldnt be touching the rear window at all, it should rest on the pad on your rear hatch.

Does it sound like its trying to go down or does it just stop, and is there a some kind of noise when it stops that doesnt sound good?

also you can try rolling it down with the key in the key hole on your back hatch. Just stick the key in and turn it counter clockwise and hold it there and the window should begin to lower and then viceversa for it to go up.

I know that rear window problems are very uncommon and i think ive only heard of this happening once before. Have you tried contacting the person that you picked it up from? thats where id start.

It's not that the window catches on the outside, it looks and sounds like it catches on the inside of the door panel. Because it only moves down a couple inches like I said, and you see the wiper shake from the INSIDE like the bottom of the window hits. I will try it with the key in the back door, but I don't see that working because I don't think it's electronical. And I checked with the previous owner, he said it has done that since he got it. He never looked into it though.
