Rear window

I am looking at purchasing a 2000 4Runner. I haven't seen the vehicle yet and am trying to decide whether its worth looking at. The seller told me that the 4Runner was a limited (and Carfax agrees)-but it has cloth seats. I am new to 4Runners, but my impression was that leather was standard on the Limited trim. Is it possible to get a Limited with cloth interior. Also, the seller said the rear window doesn't roll down-and never did. According to Toyota's own specs, a power rear window was standard for all trim level for the 2000 4Runner? Any info or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can't answer your question on the leather but I would agree w/ your rationale. As far as the window, it should roll down.
 
I believe the rear window rolling down has been the staple of the 4runner since the 2nd genereations....regardless of trim level or year (1992 and up)....all the rear windows roll down.
 
im about 99.9% sure that every 4runner ever made has a rear window that rolls down. Now wether its broken or not is a different story. On a 00' the rear window switch i beleive is on the dash, it should look like this with woodgrain:

this is sounding REALLY shady.

leather is DEFINITELY standard on limited models. also the pwr rear window does exist on all 4runners ever made... so if its broken "and always has been" i would guess it hasnt been cared for very well. in fact my guess is this was in an accident, and the seats were replaced...

run, and run fast!
 
Leather on the Limiteds was standard on everything toyota I've every seen or read.

Something you need to consider...whoever you're buying this vehicle from may have simply added the 'Limited' decals to their own SR5 4Runner...you can buy the decals anywhere online.
 
^^^ yup.

is the dash doesnt have woodgrain, the seats are not leather, and it does not have the auto climate control (digital readout for temp, etc... not the knobs and levers posted in the image above)... then its a rebadged truck.

RUN.
 
Thanks everyone for the replies. Below is a picture of the dash. Definately no wood or digital climate control-something seems fishy. Although the carfax report shows the vehicle as limited and it has a clean accident history. Wierd, huh.

Btw-has anyone heard of or know anything about Square Trade. The seller says the transaction will be monitored by Square Trade. DON'T WORRY, I'M NOT GOING TO BUY THIS TRUCK- I just never heard of it.

that is deffinitly an SR5, have you mentioned to him about what weve told you? and if so what was his response?
 
definitely mention it to him.

ive heard of squaretrade, they give guarantees and warranties on certain products.. no idea what their deal is or how reliable they are.
 
Was the CarFax report given and shown to you or did you run it yourself? Did the VIN number on there match the car? Did the VIN match all around the car, ie: the door well, the dashboard, both fenders.

When buying my car, CarFax was no help at all. It just said that my car was bought from a dealership in Pasadena, CA with 37 miles on it. Nothing else. So no good to me when buying a car with 58,000 miles on it.
By the way, at 63k miles my transmission gave out so I don't know what to think anymore...
 
I know you are not buying it, but I also noticed that the 4wd lever seems like the older style. Meaning it is only a part time system. If it has a position on the lever for 2hi then it is not a limited as 2000 Limiteds would have come with the center diff and push button 4wd on the side of the lever.
 
Thanks everyone for the input. As for an update, I asked him to send me pictures of all of the VIN stickers. I also brought up some of my questions about it being a Limited. He never replied to that email and since I was no longer interested in it, I didn't pursue it further. Something was definately fishy-but I didn't feel like trying to corner this guy about the inaccuracies. So sorry, no more news. I can provide his email address if anyone wants to take this up further. ;):
 
as far a I know, its no longer listed there

he said he listed it a number of places for maximum exposure-so it may be listed elsewhere

I'll check ajccars.com and let you know if I can find it
 
Just had a thought...maybe it HAD leather and was stolen or wrecked or stripped and they replaced the seats with cloth????????:bash:
