Rear Wiper/ Defrost Broken

Hey all!

Anyone have experience diagnosing a rear wiper/defrost malfunction in the 2nd gen?

The fuses look fine, I even tried toggling the window all the way up and down a few times to let the truck know it's fully up. No dice.

The defrost light does not come on when depressed if that helps?

The defogger has a 20A DEFOG fuse.
The defogger relay (and light in switch) use the 10A GAUGE fuse.
There's a control module relay for the wiper.
Just a few things to look at.

You'll need to get a voltmeter or probe and a circuit diagram. Start at the switch and look for power at all wire terminations back towards the place where it should be going. Go slow and its pretty simple.

While we are on the subject of Rear Wiper in a 2nd gen. (Sorry to hi-jack this thread)

Is it possible to disable the rear wiper without any adverse affects, like not being able to roll down the rear window, etc? I sometimes accidentally turn on the rear wiper and it's PITA to get back in the parked position.

I can't seem to find a replacement wiper blade and I have not tried to us a new wiper assembly and don't even know if I can use one or sell one that will fit. The last time I replaced the rear wiper blade, was more than 10 years ago, when they still sold inserts.

I have been roaming forums and threads in search of a complete delete of the rear wiper. no luck on finding some good pics and easy to follow instructions on this.

as for the wiper and defrost, all connected or "electrically inline" with the rear window. not sure on the direction or diagrams but, there are ways to disable this. looking forward to reading from someone who knows what they are doing :

just unplug it.

am I missing something here? unplug the wiper and remove it.
im pretty sure my window still worked when the wiper was unplugged.

I would have to go double check, but on my 85, I think the window still worked when I had the wiper unplugged.
I say just unplug it and see what happens.
