Rear wiper "step" removal

Yesterday, I decided to change out door seals, rear window seals and the rear wiper arm. I was also going to change the "step", the rubber thing that the wiper rests on in the off position, but I couldn't figure out how to get the thing off. After twisting and turning it every which way, I gave up, not wanting to damage the paint. So, what the secret to removing the "step"? I'm sure it's something very obvious...Thanks!

Where did you get the rear window seals? Mine are falling apart and get pulled up by the window when raising it.

Sorry to hijack.

It's called a belt with strip. $20.02 + shipping from Partznet.com. To install, just roll the rear window down and use a screwdriver to remove the old one. The new one snaps right in. This is the section in the parts manual- "body hardware, lift gate, glass & hardware, belt wstrip"
