Has anyone mentioned to you about Toyota quality not being what it used to be or tell you that the Quality is overhyped and they are not really well built vehicles.
I have had people tell me not to buy a Toyota because they don't make quality vehicles anymore. I will admit that they have had a few problems in the last year but it is unusual hearing Toyota in the news having quality issues.

Most people that I bump into love the truck and ask me about the ride and features in it. My neighbors on the other hand that have driven it want one
 
I give it 7 in the scale of 1-10, (10 is the best).
If i Have to use one word to describe it, EXPENSIVE.

I think Toyota is still hurting from all the negative publicity in the news recently. At the end of the day, I still think Toyota is among the most reliable automobile manufacturers in the world. To say that they don't build quality vehicles anymore is just silly.
 
My 4Runner is the 6th new vehicle that I've purchased, but it's the first that has not had to go back to the dealer in the first month or two for some quality issue. So I'd have to say that in regards to initial quality, I'd give it a 10. Will have to give it a few years before I can truly make a quality judgement.

I've had people at work ask me if I have problems with my car unexpectedly accelerating. :wow: People are so easily brainwashed by the media.
 
Over the past couple of weeks during the buying process of my rig every time I went to the dealer it was packed and they were selling cars. The publicity might have kept people. Unfamiliar with the brand from buying but anyone that has one or knows people that have had one don't seem to be as affected.

It's amazing how that "accelerator pedal sticking" thing just seemed to vanish isn't it? Either it was caused by solar flares or it took on a life of its own and the media came to the realization that the final cause was a few idiots hitting the gas instead of the brakes. Since it was MAJOR news for months and seemed to disappear overnight, I'm leaning towards the latter.

When I was looking at a new vehicle and kept completely honest with myself, there are still only two brands I would trust my money in, Toyota and Lexus, period. I think Toyota has a dent in their armor, but it's more of the shock that they have a dent that surprises people. Their use to it with other brands.
 
My 5th gen was my first Toyota and it is the best vehicle I have ever owned. In terms of quality, above anything else I've had.

The truth, this is my first ever Toyota brand I bought (even after so much lawsuit against Toyota) and YES, loving it. It doesn't feel like you are driving a truck, with its smoothness, it takes me to where I want to be. My uncle test drove mine and he went and bought the same truck as me. It is a bit sad to see some bad reports of some issues with Toyota. I am sure at the end of the day, Toyotas always make its owner very happy and Toyota finds its way to become NO.1 again (though, it is still number 1 in most of its dedicated customers mine). I would still recommend a Toyota Truck for anybody and it is just simply "a good truck".
 
By the time I decided to get a 5th gen, the other 2 4Runners had performed so well that it was a no brainer for me....didn't even look at anything else.

The state controlled media only wanted to cast some doubt to clear the way for Government Motors to make a comeback. This pedal thing was only a few idiots who couldn't keep from hitting the gas and maybe just maybe one defective car.
I vote: bunch of Hog-wash on the "toyota doesn't make quality vehicles" thing.

I really don't believe that there was any sort of conspiracy against Toyota.... I think the whole unintended acceleration thing was basically a huge pile of BS that just caught fire and continued to grow. Ironically, it seems that Toyota has been vindicated...there have been some in-depth independent investigations and nobody has been able to find anything wrong with vehicles that were supposedly out of control. Most cases have been pretty much decided to have been driver error. Same thing happened to Audi years ago.
 
I had a Nissan salesman tell me to buy a Toyota and went on about bow the resale values aren't there anymore and also told me that companies won't use them for fleet sales and car rental companies refuse to use them anymore because they are unsafe. I knew he was giving me total bull**** to try and make a sale but I wonder how many people believe that crap

Sorry folks, i don't mean to hijack this thread but let me make one last statement and i will not further debate about it.

Bob, not all but many of us that including me, when we fall in love with something and we want it so badly, we become fanatic, we will pay whatever the cost to possess it ( heart over mind ) even though deep down in the bottom of our souls in a brief moment we realize this is over price. I bought this T4R because I really like its look, its ability of what it can do and I trust Toyota's reputation.

Expensive compared to what?

The 4Runner isn't the cheapest in it's class, but it is also not the most expensive. I think The 4Runner is a good value for what you get.

I just got back from a dove hunt in Yuma Az and at the border checkpoint between AZ and my home state the Peoples Socialist Republik of Kalifornia home to our beloved Nazi Pelosi the patrol asked me about the Runner. Told him I only have had mine a few weeks but was surprised how tore up the cheap plastic panels in back cargo area were from the gear I had in there:mad:

Thanks to Watanabe and his request for a 30% reduction in costs the Jap buyers are using low grade materials on this vehicle.
