Receiver Hitch suggestions needed

G'mornin everyone.

My 2016 Trail had the "Toyota" receiver cover either stolen or lost once again.

Looking at accessories like the receiver steps, or just a new plug that has an attachment to the receiver that will keep it from falling off/out.

Ive looked at Weathertech's, of the chromed ones with the brake light in it.

Anyone have steps that they like? Stay away from? Forget them altogether and just cork it?

Smittybuilt beaver step or Factor55 hitchlink are my picks. And lock them up with a locking hitch pin.

I use Reese trailer hitches and use a locking pin to keep it in place. I've had no issues with them.

I like the stuff from superbumper.com. I personally got the magnum xl. The weathertech bumpstep would be a cheaper alternative to the super bumper.

It's really great. Its a great step to reach up on top of a roof rack, or cleaning your roof. Great for hooking up a tow strap. And good for minor fender bender/parking bumps.

I love mine so far! I might get it coated in bed liner come spring.

I'm considering getting one of those little lockboxes for when I go hiking, trail running etc. But still haven't gotten around to ordering one:

I have one and it's great for getting up on the roof. One bad thing is that it will sun fade but you can always spray paint it

For $60, the Smitty built seems to do a lot. Might have to get one of these myself..

I have one that definitely saved my other car from some dings when I had to street park. The thing I don't like about it is that it needs some sort of anti rattle... I tried to make something but the design needs to allow for movement in the event of collision... Have you worked around this? Otherwise it sat with considerable play in my other hitch and make a terrible racket to the point that it now sits in my shed...

Not too sure about the hitchsafe, the bad guys are probably too dumb to notice, but it could let someone know there may be something inside worth trying to get.

I use a magnetic key holder that is/will be a real PITA to retrieve if I remember where I put it. Also not good for occasional use.

Going out to look for it now on both vehicles.

Interesting... I think it's just a bad match for my receiver. Like it's tight at the insert but loose at edge toward the front of car...

One day I'll dig it out and try the tape. It's so annoying because it's a heavy piece so you need something substantial to stop it from wobbling. There was about a full 1/2 inch discrepancy end to end. I tried wedging coins in there (gap too small) to aluminum foil (would fall out)... I even tried different pin setups but no avail cause it needs to 'move' fore and aft.
