Recommended dealer service center in Maryland-DC area

Hi guys,

New 2016 SR5 owner here and I'm looking for the best dealer service center in the MD/DC area. I bought my SR5 in Virginia and the dealer is too far away for regular service, so I wanted to find something a bit closer to home. Any suggestions for the service dept? Thanks in advance!

I use Koon's Toyota in Tyson's. They are located right off route 7 and the toll road. I have had my vehicles serviced there with any problems.

I live in columbia and used koons Annapolis and have no complaints. They have good reviews on dealer rater as well.

I live near Rockville, so my closest dealers are (not necessarily in any order):

DARCARS 355 Toyota (Rockville)
Fitzgerald's Lakeforest Toyota (Gaithersburg)
Jim Coleman Toyota (Bethesda)
DARCARS Toyota (Silver Spring)
Koons Tysons (Virginia, a bit far)
Toyota of Bowie (a bit far)
Antwerpen Toyota (a bit far)
Koons Arlington (Virginia, a bit farther)
Koons Annapolis (too far)

Theoretically, I'd be willing to go to any of these if they are heads above the rest. But I also don't want to drive too far... It's tricky because when I look at dealer reviews, the ratings don't separate out how good the service is, and I'm new to Toyota so I have no experience locally. Was a previous Honda, Acura and VW owner... this 4Runner is my first Toyota. (Actually I briefly owned a Scion but it was totaled).

Thank you, Annapolis is too far unfortunately... although I do love Annapolis... might be a good excuse to visit every once in a while...

Anyway, I just clarified my location closer to the Rockville side of DC.

Ah ok. I live in Mt. Airy and work in Baltimore. I bought my TE last week from Darcars in Frederick. Koons Westminster is about 30 min north of me. I manage a fleet of Siennas for (part of) my work. I have had them serviced at R&H Toyota in Baltimore. I've had good experience with them. All of these are likely too far from you to consider.

Actually bought 4runner at Koons westminster. Great sales team, not impressed with the service crew all that much.

I was actually all set to make a trip to Westminster to purchase mine, but Darcars came in at the last minute and offered $1000 less.

I use Brown's Toyota of Glen Burnie which is probably too far from Rockville for sure. But I have also developed a bit of a relationship with them and the work has been reliable and they have helped me out on a number of occasions so far, even some that were caused by me.

It has been many years now but I used to live near the Darcars 355 Toyota in Rockville. I took my 2004 4Runner there for service and they weren't exactly the best. Plus they charged what seemed to be MSRP and above for parts.

I had a very bad sales experience in 1994 when I was trying to buy a 4Runner at Darcars and have been leery of them ever since.

I went to Fitzgerald Toyota Service Center (the one farther out closer to Germantown past Montgomery Village 18707 N. Frederick Ave) and they were much better. Had a stuck moon-roof replaced under warranty there and they did good work. They seemed much more interested in customer satisfaction.

A weird fact about the Fitzgerald Service Center is that when I was in high-school it was an indoor soccer complex and we played there all of the time. Then later it got turned into the service center.

I've also heard bad things about Darcars Frederick service but I've heard good things about Westminster, so I'm going to give them a shot next (I too was going to buy from them but Lakeforest ended up giving me the best deal).

I honestly didn't have a very good impression of them from the sales side of things... so this doesn't surprise me.

I may try these guys out -- they are pretty close, and I actually bought my Scion from them years ago -- although I didn't really get to test their service out much since it was totaled so quickly. From a sales point of view, I actually liked the Fitzgerald folks, although their prices weren't the best when I was shopping.

Thank you, Da8ron, will add them to my list of options! So far, things don't look that encouraging closer by, unfortunately. Alexandria is a bit farther than I was hoping, but like I mentioned, I'm willing to take a longer drive if it's worth it!

I'm still crossing fingers that someone comes back with really good experience with Jim Coleman Toyota of Bethesda. Somehow I doubt it though... They would actually be ideal for quicker visits since there's a decent mall and outstanding movie theater right next door...

I liked Jim Coleman when I used them (it's just not convenient for me). I bought my double cab Tacoma there because they had the best deal. Their service was very good.

I believe it's due to the level of expected service by the surrounding demographic. :thumb:
