I have a couple of sets of the X-Bulls that my kids got me for fathers day
My only real gripe about them is they don't stack as well as the big bucks sets. If they keep me from having to pull the rope from the winch to go a couple of feet than the trade off will be worth it.
I don't drive around with them on the rack all the time. When they are up there I don't notice any extra noise

Mailman just brought mine today. For the amount and intensity of actual "wheeling" I do these are plenty stout and functional, saved me hundreds of dollars over Maxtrax. Can easily live with the way they stack, etc... Great deal for CA$90!

I read a lot of good reviews for the X-Bull ones, including a video of somone using it as a ramp and it not breaking

My maxtrak knockoffs were used beat and sunbleached so I bought another set. Same as Xbull but cheaper $62 Amazon Shipping said two to three weeks but I got them in less than a week.

I got the blue ones.

Now that's a proper price for a product like this.

I understand that recreational products have pricing similar to luxury products but Maxtrax for 300, hitch skid plates for 150, rock sliders north of 1,000...

The 4 xbulls are layered and that doesnt look bad. I may get another pair.

Find a good surplus store and get some Marston matting. They're 18" wide by 10' and they were used by the military and NGOs as portable runway/road "surface". They're aluminum and can be cut in half to make two mats. We used them all the time as traction aids! You can bridge with them some as long as you put something under them (logs, rock) to support them. If you bend one, bend it back!

I bought the x-bull boards and they have held up fine mounted on my vehicle 24/7. Not sure how durable they are, I've only used them once.


Only thing I don't like is they don't stack well at all...or don't stack nearly as nice as the maxtrax.


How I mounted mine to the roof rack are as follows x 4, in this exact order:

1 long carriage bolts
2 wide washers and 2 bolts to lock the carriage bolts to the rack
1 stainless steel standoffs that sit on the carriage bolts to keep the boards from vibrating or moving (can use electrical tape or rubber tubing).
1 nut that acts as a stop for the standoff
1 big washer to tighten the board down
1 more nut w/ plastic knob or 1 wing nut.
2 pistol locks (cable locks) to secure it from thieves.

you can find all of the above at home depot or ace hardware except for the: plastic knob w/ nut insert and the stainless standoffs, and the pistol locks (you can buy them at your sporting good store for all u non-pistol owning enthusiasts0

Here you go. This is the same setup I had on my roof rack before I stuck it on the rhino mounts.

Currently, its pretty dirty. It looks like rust, but it isn't....its just baked on dirt.

It’s a prinsu, it doesn’t stick out far at all it hugs the side rails I’ll post more pics late tonight
