Anybody who has any idea on what this red button for? Its located at the left side panel of the steering wheel. It can be pressed, its a switch for something. Not sure what it is for!

I believe it's a port installed security option. I had one on my 2001 4Runner. It went haywire on me a few years back, so I stripped it out. I still have car alarm, and auto locking doors without it. The security box will either be under the seat or like mine was behind the pedals. I still have my button installed unless I need it for something else later.

I have one as well, and am curious, mine looks like this:

Definitely has something to do with the alarm coz it blinks when i lock/unlock the doors. But i dont notice any difference if i pressed it or not. Mine btw is a 2005 SR5 model

I had a Code Alarm installed in my 2002 Taco. There was a button similar to this to silence the alarm if you accidentally set off the alarm. You press and hold the button, the alarm is going off by the way, and you turn the switch to accessories.

Alarm reset with two chirps.

Just my thoughts.

I've reset my Toyota alarms by inserting and turning the ignition key. If this shut an alarm, a doesn't-have-to-be-too-clever thief could enter and quickly shut the racket down.
