What is this button for?

The button is above the P on the parking selector there’s supposed to be something there. I don’t know what anybody have any ideas?

It should have a little cover over it that is removed when you need to depress the button. The button is a bypass to take it out of park if needed without the ignition key.

Thanks for the reminder I need to replace my cover after mice chewed my crankshaft sensor and I had to drag the 4runner around. Ten bucks on amazon.

That is the shift lock override button, they are on amazon for around $9.
