Red Rock Canyon?

Today is our last day in Vegas. Looking for ideas for a day trip to see mountains and do a bit of trail walking/hiking but closer than Grand Canyon West Rim. Found Red Rock Canyon on google maps so looking to head out that way.

We don't have our 4Runner with us, rather a Nissan Altima rental, so not looking for off-roading, but welcome suggestions as to the best views of rock formations, etc that we could hike a bit and get some photos.

Sorry I missed this. Just driving the scenic loop will get you fantastic views. I would have recommended hiking up to calico tanks for some good views. The best views would be from Turtle head peak, but that is a pretty hard hike for most people.

Our last trip to LV, we ventured out to Red Rock Canyon. That place is so beautiful, definitely one of my favorite places that i have visited.

If you want a sort of obscure area (for the most part), check out a place called the Kraft boulders. Used mainly for climbing, the area is pretty cool even just to hike around. If you go all the way up the wash, the scenery is really scenic.

Red Rock visit was excellent, spectacular rock formations. We drove the scenic loop, stopping at several points to hike and take photos. Saw several flowering cacti and a lizard but no tortoise despite the frequent "Tortoise Xing" signs along the way.

Ah, we did make our way to the Red Spring Picnic Area, then opted to carry on to the scenic drive route. Did see some serious climbers gearing up with packs and ropes, etc. at Red Spring parking lot so perhaps they were heading for the Kraft Boulders.
