Careful with the ash -- it's supposed to be highly abrasive so it could really damage the paint job on your truck.

1) Tarp. In the event of ash fall cover the vehicle and do not drive it.

2) Duct tape inside of windows. Put plastic wrap over electronic components. Put plastic wrap over air intake.

3) Brush ash off any parts, covering your face eyes and nose/mouth.

4) when clear drive to professional car wash and do a double.

who says life in Alaska is boring.....?

A friend that lived in Anchorage originally told me about it. Plus, the controversy over Snowzilla this past Christmas got lots of press coverage in the lower 48.
 
I also remember seeing "Snowzilla" on the news around the holidays I believe. Alaskaman good luck with the ash, I read an article this morning that said the ash is so abrasive that it can scratch your windshield if it gets caught under your wipers.
 
Snowzilla created quite the stir here. the street that its on is narrow, so the crats said no go. the family said ok but the community rallied and snowzilla got a new lease along with a couple carrots........then another family decided to build their own Snowzilla II and there ya go.

The snowman is still there a little worse for the rain but still up. Alaskans don't like being told what to do. There were rumors or the best snowball fight ever if the crats showed up again. fun.

Redoubt is active. I put a nickel on no eruption and that bet was taken by the local Ace hardware guy.......the AVO website is overwhelmed. I think if it blows I will park the beast underground at work and cab to work. Oh Joy!

Wow! Dangerous but a chance to see something in person most people have only seen pictures of. Nothing like life on the edge!

Yes, up here in Alaska we put protesters, religious fanatics and politicians who abuse power in the Volcano Tour Bus. Departs every hour.

I first heard about Snowzilla on t4r.org haha.

And I have been studying this volcano in Geology class lately. It is starting to become more and more active

All the face masks in town are history. People are stocking up on water, food duct tape.

Major thing is ash fall as was pointed out. No driving. However, the cab company at least at this point will take in town only if Redoubt erupts. I am looking for a garage for the Beast and I imagine everyone else is also.

If the mountain blows and ash is coming our way I can park at the protected garage at the hospital interior corridor about 20 feet below ground then cab to and from work.

I plan to cover the air intake by plastic sheeting. Then another level of sheeting from roof rack to bumper and close the hood on the sheeting. on the sides I will use the wheel wells and hope to create a 45 downgrade of sheeting from top to bumper so the ash (if any) will slide off or can be removed downward.
