On to my 3rd 4Runner, 2016 Barcelona Red SR5. I am coming from a 1996 E-locked Limited. I am bummed about losing the E-locker, but I am pretty excited about getting into a vehicle will less miles. This is my wife DD and my weekend adventure rig, so the build will be nice and slow. Here is the starting point:

Received my AJT Design key fob in.

Of course my transponder was glued in, but I ended up destroying the key fob around the transponder. The hardest part for me was getting the key out the fob.

After a lot of prying and heating got the last bit up plastic off. Ordered a second set of red buttons so I can have the red panic button. I'll update when I get it.

Thanks, always wanted to get another red 4Runner after I sold my red 1st gen.

Honestly not 100%sure yet. I want to get some trails under her and see where I am at. Initially I was thinking of just a 5100 level and keep it simple, now leaning towards Icon Stage 2. Nothing crazy, just enough for trails and some camping.

You ought to have a new door only key cut and put that in your new fob. It would look 100 times better and only cost a couple dollars and your time.

I might eventually get a new key cut, right now it doesn't effect the key so I am not too worried about it. Plus most people don't look at the key itself, so it's a down the road. It is super easy to pop out so not a hard to change.

Got her washed and waxed. Aero Cosmetics is a waterless wash/wax system. I would say it turned out pretty well.

My buddy SWEARS by AMSOIL, so I decided to give them a shot. Did a quick Engine Flush, since I don't know the maintenance history before we bought it. I am bummed the TRD Pro grill is buried in our storage unit so I couldn't get that installed.

Thanks! It has been slow going, it was my wife's DD for awhile. Abandoned the Ram 2500 build and moved back this. Unfortunately my FAUX Trd Pro grill is buried in storage till we get our new house.
