Regear Question - New front carrier needed?

So decided to pull the trigger on 35's next weekend, which means I plan to regear shortly. Trying to piece together everything I need for the install to be sure I can get it done before next summer. I have a 2004 v6, with the 4 speed transmission, and as far as I can tell, the 3.91 gears.

Do I need to source a 3.73 carrier for the front to throw on some 4.56's? Ive found threads that say I do and others that say I don't.

Also, any preferred brand of gears, Yukon, Nitro etc, or does it really not matter?

Thats my plan B, but its hard to call being in class all day so I figured Id ask here first.

I believe for 4.56 you don't need a bigger carrier, only if you want 4.88 or bigger but don't quote me on that.

EDIT: you do need a 3.73 carrier but ECGS will provide it with your purchase as long as you send them yours.

Oh perfect thanks. I dont think Im gonna go through ECGS though. I think I found a shop up in Sacramento that will do it cheaper, plus I dont have to ship my diffs all the way across the country. Now to just source a 3.73 carrier. Maybe theyll ECGS will exchange them even if I dont buy gears from them

The break is at 3.91 and above is the low speed carrier. 3.73 and down is the high speed carrier. The curveball is that "thick cut" gears above 3.91 will run on the high speed carrier. It's my understanding there are 4.56 and 4.88 thick cut and regular gears to fit the high and low speed front carrier. The regular R&P are a little cheaper than the thick cut, but the thick cut will fit the plentiful high speed carrier.

The short story is that you need to make sure your R&P match your carrier.

Oh ok, that makes sense. Ive never seen regular cut 4.56's though. Time to get interneting and try to find some, especially if theyre cheaper
