When I backpack or camp, we always throw all the food in a bag, tie some rope to that bag, and sling it high into a tree a ways from our campsite.

So does a bear canister allow you to just keep it at your camp site? Is it worth the weight penalty?

I hear ya, but in some parks it is a requirement and you must have one. Really all depends on the regulations where you're going backpacking.

Haha, I came in here to post that I just bought this exact stove this weekend on that sale. Plus you can use your 20% member coupon so I got it for $63! Can't wait to use it this weekend

Ordered a Thule box yesterday. Saved over $100. I hated to spend the money because I have a perfectly good, albeit older, Thule Adventurer - but it is ridiculously too big for the 4R. The sale helped ease that pain a bit. I'll probably try to sell the old one. Timing for the REI was perfect for me.

I figured that's what they would say since it said full-priced item but when I checked out I asked the girl if I could use the coupon and she said "sure 20% off the $80"! Guess she must have appreciated the wink I gave her :bowl:
