Starting this build thread to document all the additions and mods that I have done to my truck. Also looking to tap into the knowledge and experience a lot of you guys possess.

Vehicle mainly sees city streets with some freeway. Trying to get off the beaten path once a month or so and a few times a year it will head deep into Baja for surf trips.

Not wired up yet since I am out of spots on my additional fuse/relay box. Still trying to find a spot for the additional box.

As far as I know Rigid does not offer the SAE/DOT approved fog lights in amber color so I got 2 sets, 1 set amber flood, and 1 set white SAE/DOT fog duallies, and swapped the lenses. The now flood white duallies will be used as ditch lights.

Here is a shitty photo of them along with the 2 light bars on front end. The rigid 10in sr2 has a smoked cover on it, thinking about doing something similar to the 22in but have yet to decide.

You're pretty built up there already. Where do you go in Baja? Pacific side I'm guessing with the mention of surfing

I used to go to San Felipe mostly when I was younger, but it's been 15-20 years now

Ya I am a bit late on the build thread.

Go about 400 miles down on the pacific side, and also have a place in San Juanico which is a day and a half drive on the pacific side.

Last time we were down we came back the new road on the east coast and stayed in a cool little spot just north of San Felipe. It was weird because it was all Gringo's. Quite the change from all my years traveling the pacific side.

How's this work out? Pretty slick idea.

Also, members, notice how I didn't include the pictures in the post even though I quoted him. You all need to start doing this when the photos are on the same page as your post will be. Especially when the photos aren't even really related to your post.

Super straight forward. Use allen head key to remove all the bolts holding the face/glass bezel on the light. Once that is removed the reflector or lens just falls out, its not fixed to anything.

Be mindful of the space behind those switches. The sliding dust cover under the shifter moves into that space when you go into park. Mine has a permanent crease in it because of that, lol.

Busted Tie rod boot.

With about 3-4000 miles on the truck and only 1 offroading trip under the belt, the passenger side steering tie rod end blew out and spit grease on the dust shield.

This was probably the worst part of the trip and I took everything super slow.

Decided to take it to Toyota to try and get it covered under warranty. After them glancing at the vehicle they said that due to my Icon suspension they will not warranty the broken tie rod. I didn't press them too hard on the issue since the part is around $40 with my discount and I have racks on hand.

Great build so far!

Cant tell in that photo but the bezel is a few mm off the console because I have yet to cut back that plastic piece. I also had to bend one of the protruding connectors on the back of the far left switch to clear a bolt. Going to be fun trying to connect that one up.

Solder them on and then cover the connections with liquid electrical tape, that's what I did. Never have to worry about it!

SUV Tent | Tents For SUVs | Van Tent

Used it probably 6 or so times. Had to replace all the poles recently after they snapped in heavy winds. With that being said the environment I use them in can get super windy, enough to snap the steel backbone pole that runs across the top.

CB in center console

Decided to mount a CB in the center console to keep it out of the way when its not being used.
Planned on using one of the 5 constant power feeds from my Bussman relay box so I do not have to turn the vehicle on to use it.

First needed to poke a hold through the bottom of the center console to run the wires.

Ran the power and ground through the hole and dry mounted the CB in its place.

Planning on just using double sided tape to keep it in place since it already fits pretty nicely in the spot.

Then in search of a convenient ground I made a dumb mistake.
In classic style of not thinking more than one step ahead I backed out a bolt on a bracket for the parking brake cable, causing the bracket to shift a few mm.

Wouldn't be a problem if it weren't under some heavy pressure.
Being in such an awkward spot and not wanting to damage plastic trim I left it alone.
Will address it once I get to work and get some extra hands, and a crowbar or something.

But tested CB and it works, so partial victory.

Selling 4Runner

Putting the 4Runner up for sale, decided I want to go back to a Tacoma.
Need more storage space and the Tacoma Double-cab long bed seems to be the best solution for off the grid camping (baja). Also enjoy having the barrier between the storage space and the cab. With surf stuff and the dog the cab is getting a pain to keep clean.

Well that was fast but GLWS, thankfully they hold value well. Which Gen Taco are you going with? Assuming if its 2nd most all mods will move over or are you selling as is? ( I didn't open ad)
