Reman Alternator Won't Fit

Hi all,

Working on putting a new alternator in my '88 with a 22RE and the remanufactured one I got (Carquest 14668A) which is supposed to be a direct fit well, doesn't fit.

The mount on the engine has a part of it that sticks out, making the alternator too wide.

Have any of you run into this and if so what'd you do? Use a different alternator? Shave down the mount or alternator housing? I'd rather leave all that intact but if that's the answer then that's the answer.

Hammer that pin out. It tighten's when you tighten the bolt.

Exactly what he said. It should slid back into the bracket.

Is it a pin on the bottom of that pic? I wasn't sure if it was or not before I started beating on it.

Kind of feel dumb now lol
