Remote Lock/Unlock Beeper Location?

Does anyone know where the beeper is located that chirps when the vehicle is locked or unlocked with the remote dongle? I want to make it louder so I can hear it in noisy parking locations and was thinking of moving it to the front of the grill but can't find the darned thing. When I press the lock button it seems to be beeping in the area around the brake booster assy. on the firewall but I can't find any beeper located there.

This has been discussed a few times before and I don't think anyone has a solution other than taking it to the dealer and letting them do it with that special tool they hook up. It sucks because I'd also like to make mine a little louder.

Its in the fender. Not sure if driver or passenger. The dealer can adjust volume with techstream. Not sure if the techstream and adapter off eBay can do it or not. There's a thread in the 5th gen section discussing the TS software from eBay..maybe ask them.

Is it possible to turn it off without going to a dealer? personally I find the high pitched chirp kind of annoying and would prefer to just hear the sound of the doors locking when I walk away

I'd have to look for a diagram to see where it is, but I'm sure you could just unplug it..
I suppose you could just unplug it if you don't want it buzzing.
On the electrical diagram, page 25 section M7-29, shows it connected to the Body ECU pins 7 & 9 with wires colored Y-B and P-B. It doesn't give any indication of where it's located but it's called the W3 Wireless Door Lock Buzzer.

piezio

I took mine out got tired being n the parking lot everyone with them being cool . Its actually n the inside of fender well by the brake booster , lil bit of a ***** to get to but you have to pull the plug out of there .

I noticed a wire that goes into the fender near the booster. Is that it? Why does it sound louder under the hood than it does outside by the wheel, is it muffled somehow?

That's it. Straight down from the bottom of the hood strut. That flange will come off pretty easily and make it easier to get to. I presume one reason it's louder under the hood is because of the hole and the echo.

LIke others, I unplugged mine to get rid of the sound, but I don't see why running it up to the grill wouldn't make it louder, at least in front, anyway.

A louder beeper should do it, like the ones they use for backing up on forklifts.
BTW Jennifer, what's all that crap at the end of your message?

Had a PM request for pics. Gonna post em here.

You can increase the volume or disable it with techstream. I have an eBay setup and it is just as functional as the dealer version, minus being able to flash ROMs because it is missing the K-line.
