Remote start installation Q's

I posted already in the audio/electronic section, but this forum gets a lot more traffic, so here goes...
So yesterday I had a Avital 4103 installed on my 98 4Runner. After installation I was looking it over at home and noticed that the top 2 (one on door jamb and one near dash) clips/pins that hold the door panel were missing. I assumed that when the installer was hooking up the power door locks they took it off and never put them back in.
I called them this morning inquiring about this, and was told that they never took the panel off and that they were probably missing beforehand. They were not. I went and looked this morning, and found one, broken, up near the kick panel.
Does anyone know if it is necessary to remove the door panel when installing this? I need to know if they're BSing me before I go raise some hell.

Im pretty sure that when installing a remote start with an alarm you have to splice into the power locks and windows inside the door. Without looking up your particular model I cant say. I've only installed alarmless remote starts on manual window and lock vehicles. You could probably get the install intructions from the company if you dont have them and that will tell you if they needed to get inside your door panel to do the install.

When I installed mine I made all the connections behind the kick panel so to answer your ? no it's not required to pull the door panel, however they may have.

No, not required. Unless you took it to an extremely shady shop that doesn't have the knowledge or ability to have the diagrams provided to them. Easy way to tell is to look at the grommet in the kick panel that leads to the door and see if there is brand new wiring ran through it

As far as being shady, they tried to charge me for an extra $50 in stuff they didn't even use...I can't prove they took the panel off, but finding one broken clip at te kick panel makes me think they did. I won't ever go there again, that's for sure. And they will be getting some bad reviews! I just went to autozone and bought some replacements. Thanks for the replies guys.

Was there any other time that the panel would have been removed? Like aftermarket speakers or something?

When I installed at best buy clips would break all the time. We try hard not to, but when you get vehicles that are 10+ years old, that's a lot of summers where heat has dried plastic to the bone. I've had dashes from cars in the early 90's literally CRUMBLE I'm my hands. We try to work out a deal, but you have to keep in mind when doing aftermarket stuff on old vehicles, it's just not going to go back the same. Especially when trying to hide/tuck that much wiring
