Remote start nightmare

I am having a remote start system installed on my truck. They have had it for two days! Apparently they are having a hell of a time getting the door locks to work right. They are going to have to bypass all the doors and rewire them directly to the alarm. It was supposed to cost $75.00 for installation and it is at $230.00 right now and still climbing. Damn I can't belive they were able to get the remote start to work no problem but the door looks are all f*&^ed up! They have the dash apart all the door panels off, speakers out of the doors and wires everywhere. I fell like telling them to pull the damn thing out and put everything back like it was.

Remote Start Nightmare on 3rd gen

Crimestopper and it's being installed by a Tint and Alarm place that has been around forever. The guy says that it was rigged to hell before and that's why they are having problems now. He showed me what was done before and it does seem like it was all kinda done shady. I bought my 4Runner with an aftermarket alarm and it looks like someone moved the factory module from under the seat to under the dash and then had it connected with the aftermarket alarm. At this point I just want my truck back and I want it to all work.

Ok well I got it back and there are a few issues. The back doors and rear hatch windows don't roll down all the way. I took the panels off and noticed they are hitting the wiring installed for the door locks. And now my foglights don't work. UGH! I don't know if I want to take it back or just get my friend to move the wiring out of the way (it needs to be spliced and extended) and figure out why my foglights arent working.

Well you should take it back and tell them your issues and say that they weren't like that before. Tell them to fix it without paying anything and if they don't agree after you argue with them well tell them to screw off. It was their fault that it isn't working.

Id honestly rather let my friend fix it so I don't have to worry about them half assing it and worrying about it in the future.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME???

Dammit..i hate places that dont know what theyre doing..

Im sure they are worried about the dman child-safety locks...And prob tried wiring it up to work with it.

All they would need to do, is diode-isolate the unlock, and child safety wire, and it would be FINE, i put in my keyless / alarm / remote starter in my truck (only a year newer) and didnt even need to hook it up, i tired it with both, worked fine...

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THEY SHOULD HAVE TO GO INTO THE DOORS

WHAT EVER THEY ARE DOING IS NOT RIGHT.

Gahhh...can you have them explain to you exaclty what they need to do and PM me, something is seriously wrong...

Well I let my friend fix it and everything works. They said it had to do with the child safety locks, and that it was all rigged and spliced by the person who installed the previous alarm.

Goodluck man, hope it stays working..

I would go around and test every single button / function in that truck and make sure everything is a-ok..

Make sure all the door-boots are in correctly too..alot of ppl never get those back in.

I checked all the boots, windows, mirrors, sunroof, 4x4, crusie control, headlights, turn signals, defroster, hazards, front and rear wiper, etc.

I just got my remote start installed today. It is made by a company called Micro. I dropped my car off before school at 6:45am and was sitting there ready for me by 2:00pm. So far i love this thing. I hope everything works out for you. If i had that much trouble i would probably let them know and hope they give me something for all the trouble.

Yep, wiring is a nightmare especially if the previous owner mickey mouse'd everything. I recently picked up a DEI made Python remote start alarm system for my 4Runner. I'm loving it so far. I got it done at a reputable shop who did good work for me in the past.

Good luck man..
