Remote Start on an 86 standard (yes, really)

So I am having a friend of mine help me install a remote start on my 86 manual. I couldnt find any recent useful threads about first gens. I am not going to do the whole get out of the car with it still running, lock the doors, spin a plate on a stick blah blah blah. I am hopefully not stupid enough to start it unless I am sure it is in N with ebrake engaged.
My question is what other equipment do I need besides the remote start/keyless module? I already bought 2 door lock actuators and a door lock relay module for the keyless, but not sure what else I should get to complete the install. Do i need an attachment that tells the unit that the car is running (tach sensor, electronics sensor, ect). With such a simple electronics system, I figure it should be pretty easy once I bypass the clutch safety switch. Thoughts??

p.s. if there is a way to hold down a button on the key and have it lower my rear window.... well that would be just great.

while I cant really help with your questions, I too have a remote start on my 85, with the 5 speed.

I think you might be able to tie into the neutral safety switch(if it has one?) or into the park brake switch, so it WONT start unless the brake is set. obviously, this wont help if you park it in gear, with the brake, but its another level of accidental protection.

mine is not set up that way however.


as far as what the system needs to know its running, that should be built in to the RS unit. mine detects voltage, and also has a tach trigger if the idle voltage isn't high enough.

I was training myself for years to park in NEUTRAL and se the brake, so when I got the RS, it was automatic and natural to do so.

iv seen window options on remote starts, you can make them do anything except operate the cable operated heater controls
