Remote start options?

What are my options for a remote start?

I don't think I want anything fancy, just remote start with maybe the ability to use the factory remote. Unless there are better options for not much more.

Also from the light reading I have been doing I am hearing that the truck turns off when you open the door? That would be a pain.

just get a compustar 2 way, if you are paying like 250 or so for remote install, just double that for a better security and remote start features. plus you dont have to carry the remote if you subscribe to there drone service, you get to use your smartphone to do the remote's job.

You have what year truck?

From what you are describing, you read about remote starters in 5th gen limited with push to start.

2007 4runner. I am guessing it is only with factory remote starts that shut off when you open the door?

Wrong, 2010 limited will shut off we been you open the door depending on the brand of immobilizer bypass you use.

2009 and older do not have a factory remote start option as far as I know.

Now we have the year established, I'm on tapatalk mobile so signatures don't come up, all Toyota and Lexus once the vehicle is started oem termites/keyless do not work to lock and unlock the vehicle once it is remote started. In some cases you can make it work with a certain bypass module.

I would not use oem remote for starter. I would use aftermarket that has longer range and more options.

Best way to shop for a system is have some criteria. Budget, range, your needs, your wants and upgradable.

Once you have those ironed out, I can give you some ideas
